Service protection

The aim of service protection is to:

  • prevent loss or damage to your business
  • recover from loss or damage with the least cost
  • keep the costs of doing this within reasonable bounds.

Protection is implicit in other services. For example, user accounts are protected by good identity management.

Other aspects of protection to consider:

  • Auditing and reporting of Active Directory and Windows.
  • Secure authentication for Active Directory administration using Smart Card.
  • Disk encryption for laptops, to protect the data if the laptop is stolen.
  • Virtual machines for resilience and Disaster Recovery.

We use the following tools to protect your information, systems and assets:

NetPro

  • ChangeAuditor to track and alert in real time on changes to Active Directory or Windows
  • ReportADmin to provide reports on your Active Directory and Windows environments.

Gemalto

  • Protiva for smart card authentication and identity protection. We consider it essential now to require smart card authentication for administrative access to any services.

Cisco

  • Network Admission Control appliances to control connections to your network: to allow legitimate visitors but prevent others
  • Adaptive Security Appliances for firewalling
  • Advanced Inspection and Prevention modules to detect intrusion.

McAfee

  • Virus protection, integrated with network access control: if the antivirus is not up to date you can't connect.

Other

  • RSA SecurID for strong authentication with one-time password
  • VMWare ACE to provide a controlled corporate desktop on uncontrolled computers.
  • LogLogic for using log data effectively and for compliance
  • Intersect Alliance Snare for security and event log monitoring.
